Thayse Viégas, a young woman passionate about art, design and fashion, dreamed for many years of turning her home into an innovative space, part design studio and part gallery, a place where objets d’art could be both admired and acquired. That dream has finally become a concrete and proven reality. Casa Canvas is not just a hybrid space given over to design d’auteur and contemporary art; it is also a design and styling studio and an event space. An atmospheric and fascinating venue that draws in people, stories, projects and ideas. Its premises occupy a ground floor flat in the Villa Stanga Borromeo Arese complex, an eighteenth century mansion in the Lambro Valley with an Italian-style garden set against the backdrop of the Alps, creating the very particular connection between past and future that vitalises Casa Canvas and its guests. “The aim of Casa Canvas is to provide a showcase for young creatives reaching out to an Italian and international audience,” explains Thayse Viégas, the founder and curator of this ambitious project, who draws on her Brazilian roots to inject colour and character into her Italian venture. www.casacanvas.it
